The transformation of part of a 19th-century stone cottage into a new primary suite. The existing layout consisted of two bedrooms and two en suites, which were to be reconfigured into one large, cohesive space. The clients wanted the suite to feel impressive and unexpected within the traditional cottage setting, while offering practical modern features.
Key elements included a spacious bedroom, a dedicated dressing room, a steam room, and a double vanity within the en suite. The overall atmosphere was to be calm, minimal and luxurious — a retreat where the clients could relax and unwind at the end of the day. Throughout, the design needed to balance contemporary finishes with sympathetic reference to the character of the original building.
Storage, comfort and efficient use of space were also important priorities, as was ensuring the suite felt light, open, and functional for day-to-day living. The project required careful planning to integrate these requirements while working within the limitations of the original structure.
